The Queen Bee, as she likes to be called, earned her B.S. in Interior Design from the University of Texas at Austin in 1993. As a Professional Member of ASID (American Society of Interior Design), an NCIDQ Certificate holder, and a Texas Registered Interior Designer, she has accumulated a wealth of knowledge in the field of architectural interiors over her ~25 years in the field. She served as the publisher/editor of the Austin-San Antonio Design Guide from 2003 to 2008, and now she’s the fearless leader of the boutique residential interior design firm, Refined Interiors.
Outside of creating amazing spaces, Jennifer is married with two great kids and the keeper of a myriad of pets. She balances her work life with daily meditation, yoga, and gardening and plays an active role on her neighborhood committees. She’s passionate about creating spaces that offer more than just beauty. Her current favorite design trends include croc and shagreen textures, and the colors teal and metallic gold. She would love to one day meet a client who dislikes recliners as much as she does.
Katie, our Chief Pragmatist, is a Baylor University graduate, earning her Bachelors in Interior Design in 2012. Her love for construction and architecture had her contemplating a career as an architect, but her craving for color and finishes brought her round to interior design. Her continued study of construction techniques and architecture makes her our in-office guru for technical topics, codes, unique details with finish specifications, and construction documents. Having been with Refined Interiors since 2011, she’s the team’s Senior Project Designer.
When not at work, Katie shares time with her boyfriend (who happens to be a custom home builder) and her cat, and joins her family on trips to build homes for those in need. She makes an annual visit to Galveston for the Historic Homes Tour which feeds her dreams of some day restoring historic homes. She is a connoisseur of fine stationery, an avid Google fact checker, and she never loses her Chap-sticks.
Cyndi recently joined the professional world of interior design but has quickly earned the title of Lead Tszujer (pronounced zhuzh: to tweak, fluff, primp, improve, make fabulous). A designer at heart, she earned her B.F.A. in Fashion Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2006. After working in the showrooms and on the production floors of NYC fashion designers and as a wardrobe stylist for an Austin publication, Cyndi found her way to interior design. Her favorite part of interiors is creating spaces that are fun, comfortable, and clutter-free (clutter is her nemesis). Her talents go beyond color and style; she brings a wealth of experience with customer service, marketing, and presentation skills to the team.
Cyndi spends her off days hanging out with her hubby and friends, loving on her two rescue pups, and dreaming of travel. She is fearless with her personal style and often changes her look. Cyndi has the distinction of being the only non-Texas native at Refined Interiors. Listen for her accent -- it sneaks out every now and then.
The most recent addition to our team, Whitney came to Refined Interiors after traveling and blogging her way through Central and South America and the southern U.S. Prior to her stint as world traveler, Whitney was senior designer at a notable Austin event company where she honed the skills that make her our Creative Factotum. With never a dull moment in event planning, Whitney juggled client pitches, budgets, and logistics to bring creative visions to life and transform empty venues into eye-catching spaces. It’s this balancing act of organization and imagination that Whitney brings to Refined Interiors as she jumps into any and everything thrown her way.
A graduate of Texas State University with a B.A. in Communication Studies, Whitney loves a good pun and daily doses of sarcasm. She loves watching Bond Movies and reading Harry Potter, but her favorite pastime is dreaming up plans for a flannel-bedecked adventure van.
